Okay, so we know what terrains we'll be be getting (mountain, desert, forest, beach(?), island), so what enemies will we be expecting to see for each map type? Will we get just animals (some natural, some more fantastic), or will we get animals and some sort of anthros? Will slimes/jellys/oozes be in?

Anything is more or less up for you to think of as long as it is in accordance with the rules for content.

Okay, let's see: Plains Cattle - can be eaten Razorback - can be eaten Feral Dogs Bandits (plains) Wilderkin
Forest Wolf Boar - can be eaten Bear (forest) Wilderkin Faun Dryad
Desert (desert) Wilderkin Sand Roc Desert Viper Sand Drake Wisp Lamasu/Sphinx
Foothills (Hill) Wilderkin Wolf Mountain Lion Bear Mountain Goat - can be eaten Goatherd/Shepherd
Mountains Mountain Goat - can be eaten Mountain Leopard Stone Drake Mountain Dragon
Beach Water Elemental Giant Crab
Island Savage Ape Giant Spider Tiger Honey Vine
That's for a start. Almost forgot to ask, will there be foothills leading up to the mountains, or is it straight from planes into peaks? Also, I'd prefer not to include a ginger-bread cottage if at all possible, less fairy-tale stuff, more mythical stuff.

Might be for if the player is allowed to "hunt" for prey in these areas. Allows them to find prey, perhaps? In any case the player would be the aggressor in said encounters.

I don't quite follow your logic behind non-aggressive enemies. Why would one trigger an encounter? If you stumble into them (investigating a noise or some half-seen bit of movement), that's an encounter.

Just thinking about the 'can be eaten' thing, would the mere mention of butchery (as in butchering a carcass) count as gore?

Just thinking about the 'can be eaten' thing, would the mere mention of butchery (as in butchering a carcass) count as gore? No, that's fine. It's only not allowed when it's explicitly and unnecessarily graphic. Use your best judgement as it's probably right. If you're ever unsure, feel free to ask though.

Well it wasn't going to be explicit, a 'butcher the carcass' button at the end of fights with relevant creatures, followed by a time gap and then a text box that says something like "you load up your pack with as much meat as you can carry, scavengers can have the rest".
Also, I've removed the aggressiveness thing from the creatures, I realised it was too generalised, as given the right conditions virtually everything would run.

One particular enemy type that popped into my head (mmph) was a wind sylph/dryad. They attack using wind to inflate the player, and when the latter is too bloated, they simply float away. The result of losing such an encounter is to place you in a random spot far from your original location... And could also tie into an event,

The result of losing such an encounter is to place you in a random spot far from your original location... And could also tie into an event, I really like this idea. I am also very fond of the idea of giving the random encounter enemies some deeper exploration in particular events as well. So we can get to know more about them. Do you have any ideas for the event itself?

Just to discover a floating garden, a new location. Needs more thought.

Also, what about dungeons? Some non-ingestible enemies?

Also, what about dungeons? Some non-ingestible enemies? Perhaps, but filling the dungeon with non-ingestible enemies in a game such as this may not seem preferable. Packs of enemies of course could perhaps be the main threat in dungeons along with mini-bosses and bosses, as per usual. There could of course always be treasure to be found among dungeons, whether it be food, items, or even special events in addition to the normal quest rewards (although this may be a little bit too generous) with the occasional trap or mimic to trick players.
