Heya, it's been a while!
So I know this place has been more or less dead for months now. I said I’d pick this project back up in the summer, but then I got an internship and figured I should stay on campus for some classes too. It was all a really bad idea being a full-time student and intern at the same time with a “research” project on the side... Would not recommend. I’m done with all that now, so I’m finally not drowning in things to do. Fall semester is gonna start soon too, but I’m more or less only gonna be taking classes because I’ve just been burning out since March and am too tired of everything to do much else.
Anyway, that all means I can start spending more time on BoG again! I meant to get this out early last week, but I got busy with family and stuff and ended up putting it off longer than I meant to...
Getting down to business, I have a few updates to announce.
And that's about it! It's not much, I know, but I'll be doing my best to devote more time to this project and move it forward. I'll be refamiliarizing myself with all the code and implementing any remaining core features. Then, I'll finally try to get some actual meaningful plot and gameplay into the game itself. Hopefully, I'll have something presentable in the coming weeks.
Thanks for sticking around!

- First and foremost, and perhaps the most discouraging for some of you, BoG will now be more of a solo project, with the exception of maybe two or three other people. As such, I will no longer be crowdsourcing full content submissions. It’s simply more effort than it’s worth because there’s a ton of work that has to go into making sure content styles/themes/etc. is consistent with what I have in mind across the entirety of the game. This is especially the case for writing; more often than not, it’s easier to write content from scratch than to revise and edit existing content while trying to keep the original creator’s idea.
However, I will still accept suggestions/requests for whatever ideas you might have for items, enemies, quests, dungeons, features, etc. I just can’t guarantee I’ll accept anything, but that hasn’t changed since the start. This also goes for all existing ideas that have been posted to this forum. If I do end up using your content, I’ll still consider putting your character in the game in some form, under certain conditions that I’ll figure out when the time comes. - Next, the game’s forums will be moving over to WeightGaming.com (before you click that link, I’m gonna let you know right now that the site’s visual design is, personally, unbearable and you can change it if you want after making an account there) as soon as I have a presentable, playable update. However, I’ll be leaving this site up for reference to old posts. If you feel so compelled, you can repost any old ideas you had from here to there when that board goes live. This forum is still the “active” one, but once the migration happens, I will likely stop replying to new posts here.
As has been noted once or twice in the past here, WeightGaming is specifically for fetishy games of this sort. It’s actually surprisingly active over there, so there’ll be more for you to do/look at between updates for BoG. It’ll also be good to be in the company of other similar games to share ideas and whatnot between each other. This shouldn’t change much in terms of how BoG’s forum will run. It’ll just be in a different place with more people. - And last but not least, I’ve finally started fleshing out main plot details for the game! I currently have things planned out up through the first dungeon/region. I’m not gonna disclose all of it here because I don’t wanna spoil it, but if you really want, it’s on the project’s GitHub in a much longer and slightly less elegant form.
As some of you may or may not already know, the land of Karthund is currently experiencing an inexplicable miracle of bounty after a five-year famine. Some who are reluctant to accept such a windfall call it a plague, however. With a seemingly endless supply of food available, people have begun to lose interest in anything beyond eating it. Sloth and gluttony are overtaking Karthund, and there are those who fear this spells out certain doom across the land.
Your journey begins with an innocent curiosity before getting tangled up in the affairs of Staphshire’s neighboring regions. They each have their own problems, and you’ll quickly find yourself in the midst of all of them. Your first task, though, is to explore the forest to the south. The once-proud town of Tarboro has been hidden away and isolated in the trees for years, and it’s been said by naysayers that the plague has exacted its highest toll on them. Rumor has it that residents of the forest have degenerated to nothing more than lazy slobs and eating machines with no desire but to grow as fat as they can be. Half of its populace has eaten itself into immobility as blob-like mounds of fur; meanwhile, the other half isn’t far behind. Break into the Tarborean royal house and discover the secrets that the forest holds. You might just find out what happens when one becomes entirely consumed by his own gluttony.
