Some people have been having some trouble getting used to the submission format.
To ease the transition I will be helping people along personally. First here are a few tips on how to writing your submission:
Write it first, format it later.
The code format is supposed to help ease the load, not constrain your creativity. To that end, you should always write your submission first, making sure you got it right, then you make sure the code does what you want.
There is no shame in asking
The code is very simple and very flexible, but we get that it is still difficult to a lot of people who just care about writing good stories. If you ever find yourself in trouble with the task of bending the code formatting to your will, do not hesitate in asking a question in the Event Submission Thread. We are here to help! Also, remember that your question might eventually help someone else in the future with the same problem as you, so we encourage you to post all your questions on the forums.
The Backburner
If you want to write a story, but find that the game is not yet ready for it yet, there is no reason to throw it out(or to not write it in the first place). You can still post the story in the forums to get some feedback, or just keep it saved for when the functionality necessary for it is implemented. In another words, creativity is always a valuable resource, and there is no reason to let it go to waste. Do not feel compelled to write something that fits the game, just wait for the game to fit your writing.
Besides that, I will be personally helping people with their writing submission this and next week. If you have a story ready, and do not know how to format it for submission, you can send it to me in a PM with [SubSkool] in front of it's name and I will walk you through the process of making it ready. Also, if you prefer on the spot advice, you can always have a look at our IRC chatroom on QuakeNet at #BaneOfGluttony, where either me, Kazan or Droark will be able to help you. We are not there at all times, but chances are you will find someone to help you there.
Happy to be of service, see ya around.
